How to dance a chicken or the push to push back

Sat Jan 27, 2007, 9:04 PM
I don't have the hands for this
Replicate them upside down
Salmonella sisyhpus
Without rocks to spin around
Standard flown grim
No chance to bare
In the blowing wind
A flag to capture stares

Push
Push Back
Push
Retrieve
No glowing embers
Of the shadows we bereave
Push
Push Back
Push
Deceive
The Suicidal Kings
One-eyed Jacks do not believe

Accept a real distance
No one squares a paper bag
And step a lighter dance
Hours lonely tend to drag
Where wind doesn't blow
A feather can't fly well
But standards can be flown
In the fires of a hell

Push
Push Back
Push
Conceive
What Child is this?
Even' Star the Deceived
Push
Push Back
Push
Concede
Where victory lives
An army will bleed

Chicken with it's head cut off
Chicken with it's head cut off
Still tick tocking like a clock
Still tick tock tick tock
Chicken like a clock
On the chopping block
Chicken like a clock
Seizing now as death locks
It's grip around the neck
Of the headless Chicken
With no more clock

Edward Hopper is my favorite also. I know there isn't that much in your gallery but I still like you a lot already.

I like the loneliness of Hopper's paintings; the whole sense of isolation in the concrete universe of big cities. I also like Picasso because he was a complete rebel and took abstract to some places it hadn't been before. Guernica by Picasso is perhaps my favorite painting, even if Hopper is my favorite overall artist. I'm fond of all of Die Brucke, as well, and they were German impressionists. Kandinsky stands out in my mind right now. Paintings that look like nothing up close but exhibit a complete scene at a distance are an example of brilliant art in my mind because they take more thought than just painting something exactly how it is. Me, though, I am an elementary hack. There are elements of realism even in my abstractions. You can notice the feminine form, the flower, the bubbles and the sun in Cupid's Denial.

My favorite painting is probaly Rooms by the Sea by Hopper. It has a surrealism about it. About the paintings that look like nothing up close and then form a picture when you back away, yes, they are brilliant. I'll never understand how Chuck Close can make his paintings look so real. My favorite painters are Edward Hopper, John William Waterhouse, John Anster Fitzgerald, John Singer Sargent, Arthur Rackham and probably all the pre-raphaelites. I love realism.

There will be much more here one day to gratify your eyes
But the time is such right now to leave it for suprise
I haven't at the moment even scanned a single one
But if my words do not delight, I hope my art's more fun
I'm slow to start out doing things, walking casually
But once I'm off to the races, nothing ever stops me
